Belmont County Engineer, Terry Lively is asking Belmont Co. commissioners to implement a new fee to renew license plates every year.
The county engineer said $15 a year fee for each vehicle could bring in $819,000 a year for roads and bridges.
The county gives the engineers office no funding. Their entire budget comes from two sources, gas, tax, and license plate fees.
The license plate fees have not been adjusted since they were implemented back in 1968.
Commissioners will hold two public hearings to see how people feel about that in May.
