At the Steubenville city council meeting last night, the city dropped Whitehawk as a contractor because of their recent announcement declaring bankruptcy and decided to move forward with two other contractors to continue tearing down abandoned buildings. These abandoned properties are part of the city’s strategy to crack down on water leaks as officials try to satisfy Environmental Protection Agency requirements from the January water crisis.

Also at city council Tuesday, council approved a 2.2 percent raise for the city manager, making his annual salary $97,090.
