A former Steubenville Big Red football player found delinquent in the rape of a 16-year-old in 2012 had a hearing yesterday to reclassify his sex offender status.

Malik Richmond, a Youngstown St. Junior, registered as a sex offender following his conviction. A judge reduced his status three years ago to tier one.

Judge Thomas Lipps heard nearly two hours of argument Thursday on whether he should be removed from the list.

After closing arguments, Lipps did not issue a ruling from the bench, but rescheduled a hearing for May 20.
