The Ohio Attorney General’s Office said they are looking into possible misuse of the Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway, against Bethesda Police Chief Eric Smith.

Smith has been on paid administrative leave for several weeks after some concerns were expressed by residents.

Former Sheriff Fred Thompson has been named police commissioner for the village, temporarily replacing Smith.

Meanwhile, two police officers resigned following the action taken against Smith. Councilman Brian Bee resigned due to a conflict of interest.

The County Prosecutor’s Office is also reviewing information to determine if any criminal charges are warranted against Smith.
