Wheeling police officers responded to the report of a stabbing on Saturday around 10:40 p.m. at the J.B. Chambers Recreation Complex in East Wheeling.
Public Information Officer Phillip Stahl said verbal remarks were made after an organized football match-up between locals and people from out of the area.
The victim was taken to Ohio Valley Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.
The case is under investigation by Wheeling Police detectives.
No arrests have been made at this time.
