At Monday night’s city council meeting in Toronto, the board approved a water and garbage rate increase of three percent spread out over five years.

The water rates don’t increase until March 2019, and both water and garbage increase by about 25 cents.

In other business, council approved the re-allocation of nearly half a million dollars in capital improvement funds.

Moving money from the city’s general fund, council approved re-allocation of $100,000 for roads, $200,000 for water treatment and $150,000 for water distribution.
