A man is facing several felony charges for allegedly kidnapping a woman and threatening to eat her.

According to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, Deputies responded to a Dunning Lane home for a well-being check. When they arrived, deputies said Robert L. Rivers, 34, of Cambridge met them at the door.

Deputies said while they were speaking with Rivers, they could see a woman from another room with ratchet straps tied around her body. That woman allegedly told deputies Rivers pulled her into the home, and hit her with a baseball bat, tied her to a chair with the ratchet straps, and continued to beat her with the bat.

The victim also told police Rivers repeatedly told her that he was going to kill her and then eat her. According to the Facebook post, the woman told deputies that she was able to get out of the chair while Rivers was talking with the deputies. Detectives said they were able to find evidence consistent with the claims made by the victim. The female victim was treated and released from the emergency room.

Rivers was taken into police custody and taken to the Guernsey County Jail facing charges of kidnapping, abduction, and felonious assault. His bond was set at $500,000 and the case remains under investigation.
