Hancock County Circuit Judge Ron Wilson, who chairs the state Judicial Investigation Commission

Says the commission felt it necessary to take the unusual step to announce the result of its

investigation because it involved the state Supreme Court in allegations against Chief Justice

Margaret Workman, and Justices Robin Davis and Beth Walker. He says they have been “thoroughly

investigated and they have been cleared of wrongdoing”. Most of the probe centered on using state

money to finance working lunches for themselves and their staffs. The JIC also looked at hirings and

travel, but found no violations. The House of Delegates Judiciary Committee will resume its hearings

Thursday on the Court’s spending practices. Members are trying to decide whether impeachment

charges should be pursued. The Legislature is not bound by any decision the JIC makes.
