Crews responded to the vacant Bell Nursing Home building along Route 40 in Morristown after it caught fire Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started on the northeast side of the building. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to that part of the building and keep it from spreading.

Belmont Fire Chief Bob Mills says a neighbor heard an explosion in the front corner, and at that point it was when they saw the smoke and fire.

The fire marshal’s office has been notified to investigate this.

Departments from Belmont, Barnesville, Bethesda, Morristown and Lafferty responded.

Nobody was hurt. Mills said they are doing their best to keep hydrated as they finish up.
