Flood warnings have been issued for several counties along the Ohio River.
Most residents and businesses will see minor to moderate flooding. The Ohio River should crest early this afternoon and drop below flood stage around 6 am tomorrow morning.
In Wheeling, the water level has submerged much of the amphitheater at Heritage Port. The Sternwheel Festival will be canceled, and most likely will not be rescheduled this year.
The flooding has affected some schools and roads in the area as well.
Madison Elementary School on Wheeling Island is closed today, but staff are to report. Bus routes that run on Wheeling Island for Triadelphia Middle and Wheeling Park will still run. Noah’s Ark Child Care is closed as well.
Brooke County Schools will be on a three hour delay, while Marshall County Schools and Head Start will be on a two hour delay.
Moundsville BC Pre-school will have a one hour delay and the West Virginia Northern Community College in New Martinsville is closed for the day.
In Ohio County, South Front Street is closed due to storm drains backing up. In Brooke County, Hukill at Ramsey Fort Road, Camp Run Road, and Pierce’s Run Road are closed as well.
