Starting today students in the Union Local School District will be passing through metal detectors on their way to class.
The middle and high school students went to an assembly Friday where they reviewed the procedure for entering the school buildings and to see a demonstration of the metal detector.
There will be two metal detectors at the high school at the fitness hallway and the main entrance and one at the middle school at their main entrance.
Superintendent Ben Porter said he is looking forward to the extra layer of security they can add to keep the students and staff safe.
