The recycling program in Belmont and Jefferson Counties is in danger of reducing its access and availability.
JB Green Team officials say continued abuse of its recycling bins and improper recycling is leading to added cost and contamination.
Every day, JB Green Team members have to go through a contaminated pile of recyclables and pick through it by hand. Now, they’re is asking for the public’s help in continuing its recycling mission.
The biggest problem? Plastic bags.
Bins have already been removed from Rayland and Smithfield.
Access and convenience of these recycling bins in some locations has led to people using them as garbage disposals. The recycling bins along Lincoln Avenue are the latest in contention. If people keep dumping garbage, JB Green may remove them.
