Incumbent Jeff Davis, who served on commission for 18 years, was up against business owner and Republican challenger Tommy Ogden. That race that came down to only a few votes on election night, declaring Ogden the unofficial winner.
There were 147 provisional votes and absentee votes that came in, those 82 additional votes flipped election night’s results, ruling Davis as the winner by only 10 votes.
Now, there is a wait for all precincts in the state to go through that same canvassing process. Once all are accounted for, Ogden will have 48 hours to request a recount.
The Board of Elections said it is possible the 48-hour window won’t be until next week. It all depends on when all precincts have reported to the Secretary of State.
