Two hitchhikers are facing multiple charges in alleged kidnapping that took place in Martins Ferry early this month.
One of the suspects, as well as both victims, appeared in court yesterday.
Two teenagers picked up a pair of hitchhikers in Dillonvale on their way to McDonald’s, but one of the hitchhikers grabbed the female driver by the neck and put a gun to her head and told her to pop the trunkopen and forced the two drivers to get inside.
The teenagers say the hitchhikers took control of the vehicle, driving a short distance, until stopping.
That’s when the teens hit the emergency release button inside the trunk and fled to notify police.
Now, 23-year-old Jayden Baker, of Indianapolis, and 29-year old Tia Benson, of Steubenville, face multiple charges.
Benson appeared for a preliminary on three charges, including complicity to kidnapping and aggravated robbery, with her bond set at $100,000.
Baker faces eight charges, including kidnapping and aggravated robbery. He’s in jail on a $625,000 bond.
