Yesterday’s Steubenville City Council meeting was dedicated to discussing the public forum ordinance.
Most of council agreed that citizens should have the right to ask questions if a topic is brought up during the meeting as long as the mayor allows it.
After several minutes of back-and-forth between council members, the amended ordinance was passed.
Now, if an issue is discussed before city council that night, residents can speak on it during the public forum portion without signing up.
The new sign-up deadline has also been moved up to the Monday before the council meeting at 2:00 p.m.
