The Martins Ferry footbridge, a popular route to the Sports Complex, was shut down after a construction crane hit the bridge.
The pedestrian path that connects the hospital to the stadium has been closed since September 27th, right before the high school football game.
Engineers are looking into viable options on fixing the structure, but there’s no total cost of the damage just yet.
The footbridge is safe to drive under, but it’s closed to pedestrian traffic. So, sports fans who usually use the bridge to get across to the Dave Bruney Sports Complex will need to find another way.
The bridge will be closed until further notice. ODOT expects the closure to last a few months.
