Monday night was the first reading of an ordinance which proposed the city of St. Clairsville enter into a contract with Aqua Ohio. The contract would enable sale of the city’s water and wastewater systems.

The public voiced their opinions about the situation, and some council members proposed opposition to having a public reading on a contract since they feel they need more time to read and discuss it.

River News spoke with St. Clairsville resident Greg Hanish, who spoke with the council at the meeting, he says that the council should see about getting more bids for comparison.

The second reading will be at the next council meeting on October 21st.
