More than 20 people indicted by a Belmont County Grand Jury were arraigned Thursday morning. Some of the major crimes on the docket involved children.
First to appear before Judge Frank Fregiato was Benjamin Wise, 32. Wise faces rape and gross sexual imposition charges from an alleged incident in September.
His bond will remain at $25,000.
Also facing rape and gross sexual imposition charges is Melisa Buhles, 31, who appeared before Judge John Vavra. The alleged crimes took place in January involving a minor.
Buhles would also have to register as a sex offender. She is in jail on a $100,000 bond.
Another case dating back to July involves Ashley Marino, 29, and Dylan Baird, 25, who both face child endangerment charges. Marino is the children’s mother; she is also accused of felonious assault.
Baird and Marino were arrested, along with two other adults, at a Bridgeport home after four children were found living in deplorable conditions. The children had sores all over their bodies.
Baird is out on a recognizance bond and is ordered not to have contact with minors, while Marino is in jail on a $25,000 bond.
And another case– George Lekanudos, 31, of Bellaire, faces felonious assault and endangering children charges.
He’s accused of beating his girlfriend and their 18-month-old child in August. Lekanudos is in jail on a $50,000 bond.
Those arraigned will appear for pre-trial hearings in the coming months.
