A local sheriff announced late Wednesday he’s running for county magistrate in 2020.
Hancock County Sheriff Ralph Fletcher says he’s ready for the next chapter in his career as he serves his last of two terms with the department.
He’s served the community in law enforcement for over 40 years, wearing many hats such as the Weirton Chief of Police and Special Investigator to the current Hancock County Prosecuting Attorney.
Wednesday, he announced his intention to run for magistrate of Hancock County in the May 2020 election.
Fletcher’s term as sheriff will be up at the end of December 2020, and this election will take place in May of 2020. He’s hoping to fill the soon-to-be vacant magistrate seat.
