The president of West Liberty University is retiring.
Yesterday, President Stephen Greiner announced he’ll be stepping down from his position leading the Ohio County institution on June 30, 2020.
He could stay on longer, though, if necessary, to help with the transition to a new president.
The Weirton native was hired as West Liberty’s president in 2015following the resignation of former President Robin Capehartand officially took over on Jan. 1, 2016.
Greiner, who will be 74 when he retires, has worked in higher education for 46 years.
A search committee for WLU’s 37th president is now being formed and the names of those who will serve on the committee will be released shortly. After that, the WLU Board of Governors will launch a national search and a timeline will be released.
