An international company based in Weirton signed off on a new training program. This change answered many questions about their local hiring process.

Local residents and people were questioning the hiring of local employees at Bidell Gas Compression in Weirton. Many people said that the Canada-based company was bringing in employees from the north and firing locals.

Vice President of Manufacturing, Tom Welch, a Weirton Native, said the new training program will alleviate some of those fears, and help with local employment, adding the company has only a few personnel from Calgary to help with training.

The program will begin with the welding program and in the future, it will expand to all other disciplines. West Virginia Northern will be the primary training provider on site.
