A man is in stable condition after being stabbed late on Saturday night.

Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla says the man, who is in his 30s, was stabbed by a 15-year-old boy at the Jefferson Sportsman Club around midnight in Bloomingdale.

The man was driven to the Mingo Junction Fire Department, where he was then taken to Weirton Medical Center, before being transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.

Authorities say that the stabbing may have been an act of self-defense.

Sheriff Fred Abdalla says that the teen that stabbed the man is the son of the victim’s girlfriend.

The juvenile is currently being lodged in the Jefferson County Justice Center as Prosecutor Jane Hanlin reviews the case. Names have not been released, as this incident remains under investigation.
