The man who killed former Powhatan Point Mayor and businessman Marvin Brown in 2013 was sentenced.

Moore confessed to firing the fatal shot, and he entered a guilty plea to aggravated murder and burglary charges in February.

Moore apologized, but Belmont County Common Pleas Judge John Vavra sentenced him to serve life in prison with the possibility of parole after 34 years.

The victim’s family is still fighting for justice, and they believe it was a murder for hire involving their step-mother Deborah Brown and her daughter Meredith Broome.

Broome was arrested in 2018 in connection to Brown’s murder, although she was never indicted.

In September, she was found guilty of obstructing justice in covering up her mother’s theft from Marvin’s business.
