City Police are continuing an investigation into a domestic incident Monday afternoon in which a wife shot her husband in the chest.
Police were called around 2:50 p.m. to 1237 Oak Grove Ave. about a domestic in progress involving a gun. Officers told the husband, Lawrence Taylor, 32, to come out of the house, and he replied he couldn’t because his wife, Tabia Taylor, 31, had shot him.
Officers went inside and found the husband on the stairs with blood coming out from under him.
Police reported the husband had been shot in the left chest area.
The wife admitted to shooting her husband, police said. She was taken to the Jefferson County Jail on pending charges.
Police Chief William McCafferty said there was no indication as to why the wife fired the shot. Detectives were able to interview the husband at Trinity Medical Center West.
Assistant Prosecutor Steve Lamatrice said he was to meet today with police detectives to review the case. He said a felonious assault charge is being considered.
