A 1,000-megawatt power plant project has been on Harrison County’s radar since 2016, and now it’s one step closer to a groundbreaking date.

Yesterday, it was announced that Gemma Power Systems has entered into an engineering, procurement and construction contract for the project.

Emberclear is the parent company of Harrison Power, and they will be developing the facility located in the industrial park in Cadiz.

The facility will provide enough electricity to power a million homes and bring capital investment of more than $900-million to Harrison. In addition, it will provide hundreds of jobs.

The power plant will serve as a driving force in an area already attractive to the oil and gas industry.
