One person was seriously injured in an accident around 12:30 early Sunday morning in the 1500-block of Sinclair Avenue.
Steubenville Police say that a vehicle was traveling south at a high rate of speed on Sinclair Avenue and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of John Scott Highway.
The vehicle left the roadway, struck an embankment before going over a cliff and coming to a rest in Permars Run.
The driver of the vehicle was trapped inside the car where the Steubenville and Wintersville Fire Departments worked to free the individual.
Police say the person was taken to Trinity West Hospital before being transported to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh in critical condition.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
