A woman accused of pretending to be an undercover officer in the St. Clairsville area entered into a plea agreement Monday.
Marlese Lopez of Martins Ferry pled guilty to two charges: impersonating a police officer and theft. The theft charge was only recently filed against her.
In March 2019 local law enforcement were searching for Lopez after two couples told police that Lopez claimed to be an undercover police officer, followed them home from a St. Clairsville Pain Clinic and questioned them about their medications.
The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Clairsville Police Department both received calls concerning Lopez.
She was taken into custody the next day.
Now, with Lopez’s guilty plea, she faces 2.5 years behind bars.
She will be sentenced February 3rd and is out on her own recognizance until then.
