One person was killed in an early Sunday morning accident in Harrison County. It happened on State Route 151 between Jewett and Hopedale.

Ohio State Highway Patrol says that a commercial vehicle was involved in the accident. The tractor-trailer was hauling sand, commonly used in the oil and gas industry.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and said that the driver, 61-year-old Teddie C. Davis of New Bern, North Carolina, left the roadway while making a turn.

Police say that Davis was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to play a role in this crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
