One man is in custody after setting off an alarm at a popular St. Clairsville restaurant on Tuesday night.

Someone was inside the restroom of Mehlman’s Cafeteria after it closed, and deputies eventually arrested him for an alleged breaking and entering.

Belmont County Deputies checked the outside of the building, before going inside and finding 34-year old Youness Ouarrhi of Philadelphia, Pa.

Ouarri claimed his car broke down in Washington, PA. He then got a ride to St. Clairsville and went inside the restroom at Mehlman’s Cafeteria while it was still open.

Deputies believe the man was in the restroom for an hour and a half. The restaurant closes at 8 p.m.

Lucas says nothing else was taken from inside the building, but the behavior was suspicious.

Ouarrhi is in the Belmont County Jail awaiting arraignment.
