The Ohio County Schools district is taking a closer look at numbers at all of its schools and trying to find a way to decrease class sizes in a couple of them.

They say it’s not an overcrowding issue.

Right now, the two schools with the highest student-to-teacher ratios are Woodsdale Elementary and Triadelphia Middle School.

All the schools in the county fall within the state minimum requirements when it comes to that ratio, but a few places would like to see numbers a little lower. The ideal ratio would be 1-to-20.

The 2020 census will provide newer numbers, plus, they’ll consider special permission requests regarding school choice.

Bus routes and families also need to be considered.

Board members know this isn’t a clear cut decision, and they’re considering everything before even thinking about deciding anything.
