Just after 7 p.m. yesterday, firefighters from multiple departments were called out to a barn fire on Morristown-Flushing Road. When crews arrived on scene, they say it was fully involved.

Lafferty Assistant Fire Chief Dustin Hudak said the barn was a total loss, there was some farm equipment inside, but no one was injured.

Also, a McMechen home was destroyed after a fire yesterday afternoon. Officials believe the flames started in the basement of the house on Grant Street.

It was empty at the time and no injuries were reported. Fire departments from Benwood, McMechen and Moundsville all responded. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The house is believed to be a total loss.
