A multi-million dollar project will be breaking ground for a development along Park Drive in Weirton.

Nearly 100 acres of land will be developed as part of a three-phase project bringing in all kinds of business.

Weirton Mayor Harold Miller said plans have been about 10 years in the making, and they will be breaking ground soon.

The idea is to transform space across from the Walmart and make it an all-inclusive site, full of restaurants, retail, hotels, and other living spaces.

For years, the city has been working with the state on approval and funding, but this is only about 25 percent of the acreage available for the three-phased project.

Phases 2 and 3 will happen a little later down the road, bringing even more business and development.
