The Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston has announced new protocols to enhance its safe environment program.

Bishop Mark Brennan says he is expanding the requirements of fingerprinting as part of the background check process. He’s also engaged CSI of Pittsburgh as the third service provider that will conduct spot checks and training.

Fingerprinting will be required of priests, deacons, seminarians, principals, teachers, staff and certain volunteers.

Brennan also announced that a new reporting system known as Ethics Point will soon be incorporated.
