Facts over fear was the message at Wednesday evening’s town hall hosted by the Jefferson County General Health District.
Several experts were on hand to answer questions about COVID-19.
Jefferson County Health Commissioner Nicole Balakos spoke about the county’s first confirmed COVID-19 case and said it probably won’t be the last.
The patient testing positive is a 61-year-old woman with only local travel history.
The town hall was headed by representatives of city government, education and the health department.
They were on hand to answer questions from the community.
And when it comes to first responders, another citizen asked if they’re being protected once they arrive on the scene.
Jefferson County 911 director, Rob Herrington said a log is being kept of addresses of people in quarantine so the emergency staff knows what they’re walking into.
