Belmont County has seen 12 people suffer COVID-19 related deaths. The new cases are from the same facility.

The Belmont County Health Department reports three COVID-19 related deaths from the Sienna Hills Nursing Home – one employee and two residents. Of the three, two were women, one in her 60s and one in her 90s, while the other was a male in his 60s.

Deputy Health Commissioner Rob Sproul said his office and the Ohio Department of Health have been in contact with the facility to make sure it is following all recommended safety measures and the administrator said it is.

Sproul noted most nursing homes are isolating the sick in separate wings.

Sienna Hills has strict restrictions on visitors and has enhanced cleaning of all areas.

Overall in Belmont County, 12 people have died, 375 have tested positive, and 187 have recovered. Most of the county’s cases are from the nursing home or the prison. It’s difficult to control the spread in tight quarters.
