With temperatures in the valley rising, it’s refreshing to hear that swimming pools will be opening in the Ohio Valley.

Oglebay and Wheeling Park announced that its swimming pools will open on Saturday, May 30, one week after Memorial Day.

The opening of the pools has been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice recently approved the opening of public swimming pools.

At Oglebay Park, the indoor pool at the Wilson Lodge and the outdoor pool at the Crispin Center will open at 11 a.m.

Also, the outdoor pool at Wheeling Park will open on Saturday morning as well.

Although pools are opening, social distancing and other coronavirus guidelines will be strictly enforced.

“The things that we’re going to ask is that you basically come ready to swim to limit the use of the locker rooms and the restrooms,” said Executive Vice President of Operations at Oglebay Park Rodney Haley. “Bring your own towel. The same thing with refreshment stands, it’s the same six-foot spacing.”

Pool staff will also take the temperature of all guests as they enter the pool area.

More information will be posted on the Oglebay website.
