A shooting occurred at a protest in Austin, Texas, but it involved a local resident in the Ohio Valley. And now their family is mourning the loss of their loved one.
Authorities say it happened just before 10 p.m. in the downtown area during a protest on Saturday evening.
The victim, Garrett Foster, was carrying a rifle when he approached the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect then shot at Foster.
Officials were able to detain the suspect and say that they have been cooperating with police. The suspect has since been released pending further investigation.
On Sunday, St. John Central Academy posted to Facebook saying an alumni family was affected by the incident.
No one else was injured in the shooting.
An investigation is ongoing.
