Brooke County Power announced that they will not complete the loan that was approved this summer for a power plant that would have become the largest consumer of natural gas in the state of West Virginia. The company cited changing conditions in the energy and financial markets as reasons for the decision. The loan would’ve funded a letter of credit that guaranteed the interconnection improvements that the grid would’ve needed for the construction of a new natural gas power plant. Alternative options are being evaluated moving forward.
