A heavy police presence took place Monday morning along State Route 7 in Hammondsville.

Police are searching for a 36-year-old Timothy Patrick from the Wellsville area.

It all started at a rest stop check with plates not matching a vehicle.

Officials say the driver of the van left a rest area, spotted a trooper parked in the parking lot, then proceeded to jump the fence and run across Route 7, later fleeing down the railroad tracks.

Patrick, who is from the Wellsville area, has several felony warrants out of Columbiana County, which prompted the widespread response from OSHP, Jefferson County and Columbiana County sheriff’s offices, and Saline Township Police.

Police found a firearm in the vehicle along with drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The nearly 5-hour search took place on ground and in the air — the special response team was on scene as well as K-9s, a drone, and plane.
