Yesterday, Brooke County Commissioners heard from Captain Doug Mills of the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department, who spoke about issues with the department’s new body cameras.

“Within the last couple of weeks to a month, a lot of battery issues. They’re not lasting for the long shift and every officer has two batteries to go to their camera, and a lot of people are now having to use both batteries for the entire shift. Normally one battery would be more than sufficient, like when we first got them, one battery would last a couple of days. There’s better products out there.”

Commissioner A.J. Thomas asked about the warranty on the cameras and said that solving the issues will be a priority.
