Route 2 was closed for nearly 12 hours as crews tried to clean up an asphalt spill. Belmont Co. Residents Having Issues with AT&T Service

Some Belmont Co. residents say they have been without landline phone, internet, and television service with AT&T for several days. A representative with the company says customers should call the AT&T support line for more information on when the outage will be resolved. Late Sunday night, AT&T released a statement: “Some customers in parts of Belmont County may be experiencing issues with their service due to a cable cut in the area. Body Pulled From Ohio River in Wheeling

Wheeling Police confirm a body was found on the back channel of the Ohio River late yesterday afternoon. According to Public Information Officer Philip Stahl, the body had some evidence of decomposition. The body will be sent to the Charleston Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. There are currently no missing person’s reports out of the City of Wheeling, though there are at least two men missing out of Jefferson and Belmont Counties in Ohio. Car Thief Apprehended

A man who allegedly stole a car Wednesday in Martins Ferry was apprehended yesterday in Harrison County. Christopher Johnson, 46, was arrested by Harrison County Sheriff’s deputies. He was wanted on charges including forgery and passing checks on a closed account. Police used K-9 units and aircraft, along with Cadiz Police and the Ohio State Highway Patrol, to track Johnson.
