Mayor Blair Closser of Yorkville said his village is not in violation of the Ohio meeting laws after a village meeting started 30 minutes before its scheduled time and reconvened with a quorum after it passed a motion to adjourn.
Council’s regular meeting was scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the village’s municipal building, however, the meeting actually began at 6 p.m. Tuesday. It adjourned at about 7 p.m.
Four council members and Mayor Blair Closser then drove to attend a council meeting for the village of Tiltonsville.
The village’s website indicates all municipal meetings — including the one held Tuesday — start at 6:30 p.m.
The mayor said, the village didn’t change the time or location of the meeting with the intent of violating the law.
