Two Steubenville Police officers and a Jefferson County lieutenant saved a woman’s life early yesterday morning during a house fire on Union Avenue.
Patrolmen Matt Smarrella and Lucas Powell, and Sheriff’s Lieutenant Joseph Lamantia responded a little after 2:00 a.m. to the house they found filled with smoke.
Officers pulled the woman from the porch of the back bedroom before she collapsed.
Steubenville Police Chief Bill McCafferty and Jefferson County Sheriff Fred Abdalla added that they’re very proud of the three.
Officials believe the fire started in the kitchen due to unattended cooking and spread to the cabinets.
