Student Faces Charges After Official Finds Weapon in Vehicle

A Wetzel County student is facing charges after officials discovered what appeared to be a shotgun in the student’s vehicle. According to Wetzel County Sheriff Mike Koontz, a Paden City High School Resource Officer discovered the gun in the juvenile student’s truck with his hunting paraphernalia. They believe the gun and the equipment were left in the teen’s truck after he went hunting during the holiday weekend. Drug Busts in Bridgeport; Toronto

A search warrant was executed by the Belmont County Major Crime Unit in a raid on May 21 where drugs and cash were removed from a home on Howard Street in Bridgeport. Officers from Bridgeport and Martins Ferry and the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office were also involved. Inside the home, officers recovered 13 grams of heroin and $1,700 in cash. Charges are pending against one person at this time. Also, officers with the Jefferson County Drug Task Force, Toronto Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department were able to serve 8 warrants after a months-long investigation into residents living in Toronto, Empire and Mingo Junction. The first arrest was at 1502 Madison Avenue in Toronto. Melissa Orison was taken into custody for charges of trafficking in drugs and pending child endangerment. The second arrest was made at 418 North 6th Street. Jason Waggoner was charged with trafficking in drugs. Then police went to the home of 29-year-old Sarah Lawson at 1105 North 4th Street. Truck Crashes into Apartments in Bridgeport

A man has been arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and several other charges after crashing into the Holmes Suites building in Bridgeport right around 7 o’clock yesterday evening. Bridgeport Police Chief John Bumba said the man overdosed while driving and blacked out near Riesbeck’s while he was traveling East on Route 40. Robert Michael Renzella, 38, allegedly told police the last thing he remembered before the crash was passing Riesbeck’s.
