The Catholic Diocese of Steubenville has removed Monsignor Mark Froelich from active ministry duties due to allegations of sexual abuse against the retired priest.
Steubenville Diocese Director of Communications Dino Orsatti said the allegations stem from incidents in the late 80s, early 90s, when the person was under 18.
A statement regarding the retired priest was read in Bridgeport at St. Joseph, Temperanceville at St. Mary, the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary in Barnesville, and Sacred Heart in Neffs.
The accused worked at several regional schools including St. Joseph Central High School in Ironton, Guernsey Catholic High School in Cambridge, and St. John Central High School in Bellaire.
