Almost $7 billion has been allocated to fighting the opioid epidemic across the nation, making it challenging for rural or sparsely populated areas to obtain grant funding for their respective programs.

To aid those entities and organizations in West Virginia, Republican U.S. Rep. David McKinley organized a workshop at the WVU College of Law with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) on how to develop better and competitive grant applications.

McKinley says the event had a lasting effect not only on those who attended, but also the presenters…

McKinley now hopes to take smaller versions of the workshop to other regions in the Mountain State.
