Sanitation workers in Weirton made a push for healthcare benefits at last night’s Weirton City Council Meeting. Workers on the back of garbage and sanitation trucks work 40 hours a week but don’t get benefits.
City Attorney Vincent Gurrera said Council passed an increase in the water rate for $3.94 per month per customer and included in that is the benefits package for the back of the truck workers. Council members will talk to constituents and make a vote on these proposals at the next City council Meeting July 9th.
