Three of the four playgrounds in Steubenville slated to close will stay open after a month of searching for volunteers

The playground known as “The Flats” however will have its playground equipment removed, but city officials hope it will be used by kids as a flat, wide-open green space to make their own fun.

The three parks whose neighbors came forward to save them are located along Linda Way, Parkdale and Devonshire.

Volunteers hope to maintain the three tot lots so the playground equipment can stay in place.

A city council parks committee meeting will be held Tuesday night at 6:30, and will iron out the remaining details on what comes next.
