The Belmont County has more prisoners than they can house.
Belmont County Commission President J.P.Dutton says they house the overflow at the Jefferson County Jail, but he says they plan more discussions in the coming months, aimed at deciding on long-term options.
Those options include adding space on to the jail, building a new facility just for misdemeanor offenders, or simply continuing to send the overflow prisoners to Jefferson County.
He says they will look at the pros and cons of each, and ultimately decide, based on what’s best for the county.
