A trial at the Jefferson County Courthouse happened yesterday as the first of several suspects charged in the Jefferson County poaching case sat on trial.
Involved in this case is a former Steubenville police officer, as well as Marlon Hale who faces 22 charges, but the first man on trial yesterday was Ronnie Griffith of Texas.
Several witnesses stated his alleged vehicle placed him near one of the illegal poaching incidents. One is said to have happened on May 10, 2018
At the end of yesterday’s trial, Griffith was found guilty on not tagging the turkey and must pay a $200 fine to the Wildlife Preservation Fund, $750 for the turkey and cannot hunt for a year. Griffith was found not guilty on three remaining counts of hunting without permission, petty theft and use of motor vehicle to hunt.
